super {simple} saturday

Hey Sisters, it's time again for our fall Super Saturday. The board has been working hard to bring you some delightful (and simple) projects to pretty up your place (and peoples):) or to give as gifts for the upcoming holidays. Here's the line-up and information:

Thanks to our darling model, Kelsie Bybee. :)

{FELT FLOWER HAIR ACCESSORY}
Taught by: Kim McCrary and Ruthann Roberts
Cost: $1.50

These delightful felt flower hair accessories are accented with a covered button center. They come in a choice of four colors--grey, charcoal, hot pink and cream. We'll have a variety of fabrics to choose from for the center accent and you'll learn to create a covered button. Gift cards (shown above) will be available on Super Saturday for an additional 25 cents.

Supplies: scissors and/or pinking shears.

{BEADED BRACELETS}
Taught by: Barbara Paskett
Cost: $2

These beautiful beaded bracelets will be loved by both young and old(er) alike and are simple to create. Really! You'll choose from a wide variety of colors and options to match every outfit and occasion. (Please only order if you will be able to attend Super Saturday and make your bead choices, this project will not be kitted. Thanks.)

Supplies: All supplies are provided.

{CANDY TINS}
Taught by: Tana Olsen
Cost: $2.50 (or just the tins can be purchased for $1)

Well of course we have a project that involves chocolate! These sassy little tins with see-thru window (7 oz. size) are filled with Hershey's Nuggets wrapped in coordinating paper patterns. Add a tag and some ribbon and you've got the perfect little gift for someone special. Three embellishment themes available: Halloween, Christmas and Just Because.

{OWL NOTEBOOK}
Taught by: Jen Ostler and Marina Jensen
Cost: $3.00

Designed by our own Jen Ostler using a darling owl pattern from Martha Stewart, this notebook with a stitched cover has endless possibilities. It's perfect for journaling, note taking, new moms to keep a record of baby's milestones, etc. The fabric and wool pieces are stitched on the osnaburg cover with a simple whip stitch--perfect for beginners. Two versions are available: girly and neutral.

Supplies: scissors

{PINCUSHIONS}
Taught by: Jen Ostler and Marina Jensen
Cost: $5

Oh my goodness! These stitched pincushions set in a ceramic bowl are so delicious, you might be tempted to eat them up! Amy at our local American Quilting (Orem) designed this project and gave us permission to use the pattern. Thanks, Amy! The wool flowers are attached using a simple whip stitch--great for beginners. This would make a great gift for your favorite seamstress or quilter.

Supplies: scissors

{FELT WREATH}
Taught by: Kim McCrary and Ruthann Roberts
Cost: $10

Looking for a simple project to spice up your holiday decor? This is it! Felt is all the rage and this wreath gets compliments from everyone who sees it. Choose from red for Christmas and/or Valentine's Day (we'll even provide both apple green satin ribbon for Christmas and white grosgrain ribbon for Valentine's in your kit) or orange with black grosgrain ribbon for Halloween (you add your own spider or bat).

Supplies: scissors or pinking shears
*If you'd like to cut out your felt circles before Super Saturday (I'd recommend it!), please contact me (Kim) and I'll get your felt and template to you before class.

{Tea Cup Pedestal}
Taught by:
Cost: varies

We've searched far and wide for the perfect cups and plates to assemble these teacup pedestals. Not only are they delightful, they're also useful! Add a sweet treat, wrap up and give as a gift, use to display a candle or pie pumpkin or on your counter for jewelry. Sets will be limited and sold on a first come basis at Super Saturday. We'll have the supplies ready for you to assemble your set. If you have your own set of dishes, bring 'em over and use our glue to assemble.

{COOKING DEMONSTRATION}
Taught by: Lily Li
Cost: free!

We're super excited to have Lily demo two simple and favorite Chinese dishes. Then guess what"s on the lunch menu? Please add your name to the list in the sign-up binder if you'll be joining us for a light meal (and dessert of course!), so we can get an accurate count. Thanks.

Are you excited? Here are the rest of the details:
  • The big day is Saturday, October 15th from 9-2 pm
  • A light lunch will be served at 12:30-ish
  • We will display the projects outside the Relief Society room on September 18th and 25th and at the Fall Social on September 15th.
  • All sign-ups and payments are due to Jen Ostler by September 25th
