Between the ten hour drive and relaxing at the cabins, I was able to complete some projects. One was Ella's baby quilt. Yep, she's four. I started it when she was born and then lost the quilt top. How do you lose a quilt top? I decided to finish a different quilt from a class I took forever ago, and unrolled a large piece of batting to see if I had enough. Layed neatly on top of the rolled up batting I found Ella's quilt top. I had looked everywhere for it--three times!
So here it is:
I did a bias binding from gingham. So sweet.
I love the back as much as the front. My friend Maggie, added a pieced strip to the back of one of her quilts and I loved it. I'll never make another quilt without it.
This is my favorite part. My friend Jen Ostler (who did the quilting) added Ella's name on one of the gingham squares. I love it.
Jen's signature touch is that she hides a shape in the quilting. She quilted the most darling whimsical flowers and loopies throughout the quilt and border, then hid a heart shape. Can you see it? Makes me think of her when I see it. I happened to find it right away because of the way I had the quilt folded.
