During the summer I find myself getting away from the sewing room. Vacations, kids, more house projects, the in house engineer deciding to get his Master's Degree ( while still doing his full time job) and did I mention the kids actually wanting food and clean clothes?
I feel like I need some sort of validation some sort of something to show me that I am still a part of the sewing world even if my machine has been off for more days than it has been on in the past two months. It feels like sewing is a passing whim rather than a full blown passion and it makes me sad at times. Until last Saturday night!!!!!
Last Saturday night I decided that Sunday was for me! Was for me and my SEWING MACHINE!!!! I cut out fabrics and had every little thing I needed and was ready to go the next morning and boy did it feel GOOD!!!!
I finished my June block for Aurifil Designer BOM
My two Believe do.Good Stitches blocks for July ( Pattern and tutorial is Starry Night by Fresh Lemon Quilts)
Three of the Tula Pink 100 Modern Blocks ( Katy chose the colors for these)
And finally the quilt label for Thomas Knauer's baby quilt that visited all of Austin!!!!
All of these little projects are now up on my wall to remind me that I DO still have the passion! There are my validation! The little people ( one is taller than me now) will be going off to school in a few more weeks and I think I will miss the laughter, the fun we have had this summer and really just having them around. They are great children and I am a very lucky mama, I know that for sure. That being said, I am looking forward to the quiet times with just me and my sewing machine.

Block Two done, almost new sewing room and a sewing playdate!
Oh MY what a busy week here...crazy as usual :) Hope everyone had a chance to enter ALL the FAB giveaways on Sew Mama Sew!!!! If not...GO NOW and enter!!!!
My do.Good Stitches Believe block two is DONE!!!! I am officially IN LOVE with improv. To be honest, I was a little intimidated with the concept of complete improv but I am liking how it takes on a new look with every add on and NOTHING is wrong...EVER!!!! Yup, I can see myself going overboard here.
I have my sewing room almost completely put together :) The rest will have to wait until at least next weekend since I still have sewing to do.
And OMG!!! I had sewing company :o) I LOVE having sewing playdates. There is another one in the works already for when littles will be out of school so we can make it a full blown PARTY!!!!!
Thank you for coming over Katie and Em {and the kidlets...I LOVE them} All my other photos are on instagram...if y'all wanna see them just come on over and see :)
Hope everyone has a FABULOUS weekend!!!!!

I'm Number ONE!!!!!! ( PSA and graphic post warning)
This is my story from yesterday, my PSA for all the sewers and quilters that do things a thousand times...come rain or shine...sometimes sleep deprived...sometimes just a bit distracted from kids or television ( do I hear Downton Abbey or Twilight in the background?) or deadlines that we place on ourselves ( Yes, Amy,Sara and Lisa...this includes YOU!)...I was the number one idiot!!!!!
I was working on my do.GoodStitches blocks in the most beautiful colors. I woke yesterday with a throbber of a headache so was kinda out of sorts even beginning my day. I should have known better...I did know better...but I could not resist these cuties...and I wanted to be on time this month...
I was trimming the little ends on this one...
With this blade...
And that is when it happened...
*************WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTO*************
***PLEASE DO NOT LOOK IF YOU DO NOT LIKE GORE***
I did not yell, cry or throw up...I did say a four letter word and grabbed the paper towels...I called Amy and then cried since I was having a SH***Y day and then decided I did need to go to the er...
*******NO FABRIC WAS RUINED IN THIS ACCIDENT*****
We all know what is really important ;o)
I waited around for quite a bit and had AMAZING support from my Facebook, Instagram and Twitter friends...I cried about that later too...I really am a VERY LUCKY girl!!!!!
Now I am the owner of four stitches in my finger. My biggest disappointment is that I am not sewn up with Aurifil thread! I asked and they had NONE!!!!! WTH!?!?
The bonus is that the PA that did my stitches gave me the scissors to bring home!!!!!! SCORE!!!!!! The bag cracks me up!!!!
Today, being the planner that I am, I decided to figure out what color of Aurifil thread I am, order it and if I ever have this happen again, I am prone to accidents, I can go in prepared!
Really, I can't sew and this seems like a fun thing to do, LOL!
I am somewhere in between 2420
and 2410
But I think it would be super fun to have these variegated threads as stitches!!!!!
Please be careful in your sewing!!!!!!

Three sweet things!
I feel so HAPPY! I was able to finish my October blocks for my do.Good Stitches bee group. I know it is November ( I am blushing) I had cut them out before I left and well then I put them together wrong, so I did some fancy unstitching and had them together by Friday! The Believe Bee that I am in was asked to do this Wonky Pinwheel, tutorial can be found at Greenleaf Goods.
Block One
Block Two
The third SWEET thing is I am OFFICIALLY a HALF MARATHONER!!!!!! I finished with a time of 2:15:16!!!!!
